The patent system is being abused. In the first half of 2015, 68 percent of patent lawsuits were filed by non-practicing entities, also known as patent trolls. These trolls are using patent litigation loopholes to shake down tech companies for substantial amounts of money. I am concerned about the long term effect this practice is having and will continue to have on innovation, especially for those companies less equipped than we are to handle the expense of such cases.
